Paul W. O'Brien CANANDAIGUA/VICTOR - Colonel Paul W. O'Brien, retired U.S. Marine Corps, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane O'Brien; four daughters, Kathleen, Tricia, Erin and Kerry; five grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah, Elizabeth, Meghan and Noah; brother, John; six sisters, Anne (Paul) Sanelli, Maureen DiPoala, Mary Pawloski, Margaret (Jim) Haldeman, Bernadette (Richard) Pruett and Aileen Secrest; 11 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. Paul was a graduate of Victor High School, Niagara University, U.S. Naval Post-Graduate School and Georgetown Law. He spent two years on active duty in Vietnam and retired from the Marine Corps after 26 years. Paul held multiple executive positions at Rochester Telephone, Bausch & Lomb and his own company, Capital Formation Group. He served on the Pittsford school board for 10 years, as well as belonging to many service organizations in the community. Paul enjoyed music, especially playing the piano and ukulele. He was an avid golfer, a world traveler and a devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather. Friends may call tomorrow (Sunday) from 2 to 5 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 115 Maple Ave., Victor. Interment, with military honors, will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Victor.
