Coker Douglas
Coker C. Douglas was born on June 5, 1934 in Rusk, the third child of W.C. and Justine Palmer Douglas. He passed away peacefully on April 3, 2019 in McKinney. Coker grew up in Van and graduated from Van High School. He served with honor as a member of the Army of the United States during the Korean conflict. He attended Baylor University; graduated from East Texas Baptist College and earned his masters' degree from Texas A&M University in Commerce. Coker taught in the Dallas Independent School District for over 30 years. He was a gifted pianist and vocalist performing over the years in churches and social events. Coker was a member of the old Gaston Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Stewart and brothers: Danny Gene Douglas and Jimmy Douglas. Coker is survived by his sister, Susan Douglas Bivens and husband Fred of Lucas; niece, Vicki Savage of Mineola and nephew Tommy Stewart of Grand Saline along with numerous other relatives and friends. We will celebrate his life with a private family gathering at his home in Lucas.
