Eugene J. Weinzapfel Evansville, IN Eugene Joseph Weinzapfel, 88, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his home. Gene was born February 4, 1931 in Evansville to the late George and Catherine (Wildemann) Weinzapfel. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where he was inducted into the Brute` Society of the Diocese of Evansville for his service to the church, the Westside Nut Club, Knights of Columbus and Hilltop Grove. Gene worked at Deig Brothers Construction for 31 years and later for Phoenix Construction. Surviving Gene are his wife of almost 63 years, Nancy (Sims) Weinzapfel; daughters, Jean Ann (Scott) Roales, Linda (Tom) Tepool, Mary Wilder, Julie (Kris) Bucy, Kristi Weinzapfel and Carolyn Weinzapfel; one son, Michael (Linda) Weinzapfel; three brothers, Jerry Weinzapfel, Richard (Brenda) Weinzapfel and Thomas Weinzapfel; thirteen grandchildren, Bryan and Melissa (Graham Dougan) Roales, Adam, Kevin, Gary (Danielle Ritter), Eric (Mary Caitlin) Tepool, Rachel, Stephen (Kristin), Drew (Anna), Christopher (Emily), Daniel (fiancée, Samantha Armstrong) Weinzapfel, Valerie and Alan Bucy and a great granddaughter, Kyrah Roales. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Rev. Claude Burns officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Tuesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
