Eugene M. Mondzak ALPHA, NJ Eugene M. Mondzak, 85, of Alpha, NJ, passed away on March 12, 2019, at the Phillipsburg Care Center. Born in Phillipsburg, NJ, on Jan. 17, 1934, Gene was the son of the late Michael and Margaret Horvath Mondzak. He graduated from St. Philip & St. James Parochial High School School in 1953. Gene served in the US Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957. He retired from Ingersoll-Rand Cameron Pump Division after 44 years. He also was employed with The Finegan Funeral Home for over 40 years. Gene is survived by his sister-in-law, Eileen McDevitt Mondzak; nephew, Kenneth Mondzak (Lisa); nieces, Mary Encke (Wayne), Kathy Lynn (Jim), Michele Krock (Matt) , Brenda Mondzak and many great-nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Mondzak Sr., and nephew, James Mondzak. Gene was a member at St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was an usher at 5 p.m. Mass, Knights of Columbus No. 474, Notre Dame Club of Phillipsburg, John Dolak American Legion, Holy Name Society. Gene loved his trips to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and all other casinos. He was an avid bowler at Warren Lanes, an avid fan of the Phillies, Eagles and Notre Dame. Viewing hours will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019, at The Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Ave., Alpha, NJ, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday, March 16, 2019, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 5th Ave., Alpha, NJ.
