In memory of
Delmer Louis Eisert
Delmer Louis Eisert Nov. 30, 1926 - Feb. 12, 2019 Delmer Eisert was born Nov. 30, 1926 in Sunnyside, OR., where he lived and worked on a 65 acre farm until he was 18. From an early age, Delmer knew he wanted to be a carpenter, prompting him to take drafting and shop classes at Milwaukie H.S. In his senior year, he became President of Future Farmers of America, graduating in 1946. Delmer's interest in travel and love for his country prompted him to join the Merchant Marines during WWII where he served for 26 months in the Pacific Theater, hauling troops and cargo. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Charlotte Johnson, which was the beginning of 70 wonderful years of marriage. His successful business as a building contractor created a lifetime of work that he loved. In addition to the 350 custom homes, commercial buildings and remodels that he built in the Portland/Vancouver and broader area, the seven churches were among his favorite projects, connecting him with his deep Christian faith. He retired at the age of 84. Delmer and Charlotte's blessed life together brought four wonderful children, travel, boating and family time at their mountain cabin. Delmer was a member of the Prime Time Ski Club, enjoying the slopes into his late 80's. As a board member of the Tucker-Maxon School for three decades, Delmer helped tremendously with their building needs and was a strong advocate for the hearing impaired. Delmer passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family at age 92. He is loved by his wife, Charlotte; children, Lynne, Doug and Clark; eight grandchildren; and siblings, Duane Ulrich and Roger Eisert. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debi Eisert Kahle; and brother, Kenny Eisert. There will be a memorial at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Tabor Heights United Methodist Church, 6161 S.E. Stark, Portland, OR. Remembrances may go to Tabor Heights UM Church or Tucker-Maxon School. Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits
