It is with great sadness the family of Constance P. Cross announces her passing after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, she was 93 years old. Mrs. Cross was born to James R. and Sophronia W. Volmer on February 7, 1925 in St. Louis, MIssouri. After attending Stowe Teachers College for two years, she married Charles T. Cross in 1945 and settled in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was employed at the Springfield Armory, Buxton, and finally Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, where she retired after 20 years of service. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, sewing, art, golf, skiing, dancing, sales, shopping, and traveling. More importantly, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, dedicated to the upbringing and education of all of the children. Mrs. Cross is deceased by her husband Charles of 73 years, and survived by her daughter, Rivka and her husband, Ariel; and son Tariq, and his wife Alooah. She will also be remembered by a host of family members, specifically; the Carter family of St. Louis, Missouri; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Macaria, Heather, Chiquita, Bilqis, Tahira, Reyhana, Sahar, Idris, Sulaiman, Yusuf, Camaria, Leila, Gavin, Kadyn, Dalia, Aviva, Khalil, Amany, Nayla, Lay’lonie, Alijah, Saniya, Noah, Maliya, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. We will miss her dearly. A graveside service for Constance will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 10:00am in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam. The Sampson’s Family Chapel has been entrusted with her arrangements. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts: 264 Cottage St Springfield, MA 01104.
