Nancy Grey Mooring
Nancy Grey Mooring Rancho Mirage - Nancy Grey Mooring, age 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, February 4, 2019, at Eisenhower Memorial Hospital in Rancho Mirage, California. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana October 31, 1937, to Oscar "Andy" and Joy (Montandon) Johnson. Nancy spent her middle school years in Honolulu, Hawaii where her love for the islands bloomed. Returning to the mainland, her family settled in Burbank, California where she attended and graduated from Bellarmine Jefferson High School. On February 18, 1956, Nancy married Myrle Gene Mooring. They relocated to San Jose, and later Saratoga, where they raised their daughters until retiring to their family cabin at Lake Tahoe. After several years of heavy snow, they found their way to Palm Desert, officially becoming snowbirds. With their love of adventure, Nancy and Gene traveled the world. Having spent time in many European countries, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa, they returned to Tasmania last year to celebrate Nancy's 80th Birthday. Every year, after their summer in Lake Tahoe, they settled into Hawaiian time on the island of Kauai until their return to Palm Desert in the fall. Always with a smile and willingness to help, Nancy was committed to volunteerism and community involvement throughout her life. Her many activities included the Junior League of San Jose, Girls Scouts, League for Charity and Historical Museum at Lake Tahoe, Desert Hot Springs ROTC, and Monterey Country Club Niners. Nancy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Myrle Gene; daughters Christine (Steve) and Paula (Thomas); grandsons, Andrew, Alexander and William; and nephews Paul, Joe (Karen) and Tim (Debra). She was a beloved wife, a devoted mother, a kindred sister, a nurturing auntie, an adoring grandmother and a warm hearted friend. Her generous heart and boundless love will be greatly missed. A service will be held at 11:00am March 23rd at Sacred Heart Church, 43775 Deep Canyon Rd, Palm Desert, CA 92260. The family will greet friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be welcomed.
