Jon Valfre
Valfre, Jon P. 76, of Sugar Land, TX passed away on July 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Dominick Valfre; his mother, Sylvia Valfre (Martino); and his wife, Sandra Valfre (Amos). Jon was born in Blue Island, IL and later lived in Palos Heights, IL. He attended Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, and Ohio State University before entering the U.S. Army in 1967. Jon was discharged after serving two tours in Vietnam. He and Sandra settled in the Atlanta area where Jon earned a B.S. at Georgia State University. He spent his career in the banking industry while Sandra worked in the oil business, which eventually took them to Sugar Land, TX. They traveled extensively until Sandra's death in 2011. In addition to travel, Jon enjoyed sailing, books, movies, music and good Italian food. He is survived by his second wife, Virgina Valfre (Newbert); his sister, Lynn Schoenecker (Harold) of Palos Heights; his dear friend, Kabita Sedain of New York; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
