Lloyd A. Benson September 22, 1930-February 2, 2019 OKLAHOMA CITY Funeral services were held for Lloyd A. Benson on February 5, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Moore, Oklahoma. He was born in Blaine County, OK to Jacob Lewis (Lew) Benson and Caroline Bertha (Erlen-maier) Benson and was the youngest of five children. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1948. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Essex from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in August 1954 as a Yeoman Second Class. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Oklahoma City University in 1960. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base after graduation as an industrial engineer and retired in 1987. He married Doris Evelyn Miller on July 27, 1954 in San Diego, CA. They made their home in Oklahoma City where they raised their family. They enjoyed traveling to many places across the United States. Lloyd enjoyed collecting coins, loved watching sports, especially football, and was always tinkering on something. He was a member of the USS Essex Association and attended many reunions over the years. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Lewis (Lew) and Caroline Benson; sister, Emily Spahn, and brothers, Earl, Everett and Orville Benson. He is survived by his wife, Doris of the home, daughters, Loretta (Jim) Waterman, and Charlotte (Bruce) Baird; grandchildren Bethany, Matthew and Tyler Waterman, Abigail and Daniel Baird and great-grandchild, Sawyer Turner. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a man of faith. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Moore Oklahoma.
