In memory of
John Harrison "Jack" Candioglos
John 'Jack' Harrison Candioglos Dec. 22, 1929 - Jan. 24, 2019 Jack, was born to George and Alene Candioglos in Portland where he lived his entire life. He attended Washington High and graduated from Stanton Military Academy in Virginia. He met Connie, his wife of 64 years, while attending the U of O. After graduation they married and he entered the Army where he was stationed in Ancorage, Alaska. There they had their first child, Kim, 13 months later they had a son, Kirk. Jack went on to be the managing partner of the first Budget Rent a Car in Oregon. Later he took over the family business that was started by his Uncle Tony, Tony's Smoke Shop. He was active at the Multnomah Athletic Club for years, teaching karate. He enjoyed tennis, boating, old movies, working in his yard and traveling to Europe, Hawaii, Australia, Egypt and multiple trips to Palm Springs. He loved his family and he will be missed. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and both sisters, Toni Candioglos and Shirley Walling. His wife, Connie died 10 months before him. He found life very difficult without her. He is survived by Kim Hallgrimson (Ken), Kirk Candioglos (Corey); and granddaughters, Nicole and Kendall Candioglos. An open house to celebrate his life will be held at the home he and his wife shared for 51 years. The gathering will be held from 1 - 5 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2019. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude or the American Red Cross. Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits
