Judy Beckman Low
Judy Beckman Low Rancho Mirage - Judy Beckman Low went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2019. She was born June 19, 1936 to parents Henry and Mildred Beckman in Elmhurst, ll. Judy graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in education in 1958 and earned a masters degree from MacMurray College in Illinois. After teaching physical education at Depauw University in Indiana for two years, she married Edward Wolff and they raised two children together, Mark and Lynne. Judy lived in Birmingham, Al for 25 years. During that time, she and Edward divorced. She worked as a sales representative for John Hancock Insurance for a short time before joining the Social Security Administration as a Benefits Administrator. She loved her work there and served in that position for 14 years until her retirement in early 2005. She then relocated to Rancho Mirage to be near her brother Bill and his wife Gail. She joined the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church and became active in the Coachella Valley Alumni Panhellenic organization and the McCallum Theatre Muses. Her favorite pastimes were playing bridge and enjoying events at the McCallum. In June 2007 she married Roger Low who had retired to Bermuda Dunes in 1999. They had been next door neighbors and best friends growing up in Elmhurst. Judy and Roger had twelve wonderful years together traveling, attending events at the McCallum and rooting for the Chicago Cubs. She loved playing bridge with her group of friends at Bermuda Dunes, and treasured the many wonderful times she and Roger enjoyed with their families. Judy is survived by her husband Roger, her brother Bill (Gail), daughter Lynne Freeman of Fayetteville, AR, son Mark Wolff (Cherilyn) of Oneonta, NY and grandchildren Andrew Freeman, Zach Freeman, Henry Wolff and Maddy Wolff. A memorial service is planned for February 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church followed by a reception at the Bermuda Dunes Country Club from 3:30 to 5:00. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Valparaiso University or St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
