Alan R. "Al" Matlock
Alan "Al" R. Matlock, 78, of Graham, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at his residence in Graham. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he was the husband of the late Christine Ann Gorrell Matlock and the son of Alan William Matlock and Helen Morgan Matlock, both deceased. He retired from Martin Marietta and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1961 through 1965. Al was a very kind soul and will be missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his sister, Ruth M. Pavlak and husband Sam of Carrollton, Texas; step-son, David Williams of Graham; five sisters in law; two brothers in law; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Gary Markwood of Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Sharon Pearl and her husband Mike Pearl. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham with Pastor Tommy Marley officiating. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
