Francis Jimmy Berteau
Francis Jimmy Berteau, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Jimmy was an elegant man who emanated inner peace and carried himself with grace and dignity. He was known for his sense of humor and his effortless delivery of a good joke. He was a retired Instrument Technician with Uniroyal and a U.S. Army veteran. Jimmy loved to fish and work in his garden. He was an accomplished wood carver and received many Blue Ribbons for his carvings. He was universally adored by his family and all who met him. Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife, Beryle Ramsey Berteau; three daughters, Catherine Berteau, Denise Berteau Finley, and Frances Berteau; son, Daniel Berteau; stepdaughters, Stephanie Sabetta, Stacie Ramsey, and stepson, Donald Ramsey; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Loney Berteau; two sisters, Betty ""Sis"" Berteau Carmody and Jewel Berteau Banning; and four brothers, Lucien James ""L.J."" Berteau Jr., Clyde Paul Berteau, Clarence Joseph Berteau, and Thomas ""Tommy"" Berteau. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. Visitation at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 Hwy. 621, Gonzales, LA on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Rubin Reynolds.
