Wayne R. Cary
Wayne R. Cary Wayne R. Cary, 89, formerly of Camillus, N.Y., passed away peacefully at Rochester General Hospital on Jan. 22, 2019. Wayne was born in Long Lake, N.Y., and was the son of Burton and Rose Cary. He was one of nine brothers and sisters. After graduation he worked for Lincoln First Bank as a messenger. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He returned to Lincoln Bank and worked for 47 years, reaching the rank of senior vice president of commercial lending. Wayne married Maryann Evans in 1958 whom he met at Lincoln Bank. They raised three children and lived in Camillus until 2016. He loved golfing, coaching baseball and was a avid hockey dad. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Maryann; three children, Kathy (Mark) Sloan of Lakeland, N.Y. and Robert (Lynn) and Thomas (Kelly) both of Victor; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Jason, Kayla, Jake, Ben, Julianne and Mathew; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Alice Pazaras of Syracuse, N.Y. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 26, from 9 to 11 a.m., with a service immediately following, at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 5854 Belle Isle Road, Syracuse. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 800 Grant Avenue, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wayne's name may be made to Honor Flight of Rochester, PO Box 23581, Rochester, NY 14692 or online at www.honorflightrochester.org .
