SHARRY, Vera 1924 2019 Vera Sharry of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on January 10, 2019. She was the devoted wife of Frank Sharry for 72 years who predeceased her by 3 weeks. She was also a loving and proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Vera was born January 20, 1924 in New York City and graduated from Walton Hight School in 1940. She always had an interest in the health field and graduated from Hunter College in 1944 with a Bachelor of Arts in biology. Vera worked for the New York State Health Department until she and Frank started their family. Vera and Frank married in 1945 and lived in NYC until 1960 when they moved to Syosset, NY. Vera was active in the 4-H club with her daughters. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and needlework and encouraged her children to be creative. Summer family vacations were planned by Vera and often included National Parks. In retirement, Vera and Frank moved to West Chester, PA and enjoyed playing bridge. Vera especially enjoyed family visits and always had a smile and twinkle in her eyes when reading to her grandchildren. Most of all, Vera loved her family and friends, who will miss her honesty, compassion and homemade delicacies. She is survived by her children John Sharry (Garland, TX); Michael Sharry and wife Jan (Dallas, TX); Irene Hallam and husband Charles (Coppell, TX); and Susan Hoppe and husband Jerry (Thiells, NY); and grandchildren, Jessica, Greg (Hillary), Katy (Jeremy), Melanie, Kristina, Michelle, Kara, and Kenny. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Maggie and Grayson. She was predeceased by her grandson, Kyle. Visitation is Saturday, January 12 from 11:00am to 12:00noon at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell, TX. She will be interned in a private ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY where her husband and parents are buried. Memorial donations may be made to Vitas Hospice.
