Jonathan Reynolds Lloyd Jan. 4, 1982 - Dec. 29, 2018 Dr. Jonathan Reynolds Lloyd, 36, died unexpectedly Dec 29, 2018, in Portland where he resided with his family. Jonathan was born in Louisville, Ky., Jan. 4, 1982, to loving parents Susan Kolanz Lloyd and James M. "Buck" Lloyd. He was raised in Louisville with sisters Katie Lloyd Carbone (James) and Courtney Lloyd Terhaar (Johnny), along with many close and dear friends. Jonathan was a 2000 graduate of St. Xavier High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Kentucky. Intelligent and hardworking, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Kentucky College of Medicine ('08), where he pursued his dream of becoming a physician and earned election into the national medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. During medical school he also met and later married his wife, Lucy Hinkle, who shared his love of medicine and the outdoors. They completed their training together at Oregon Health & Sciences University in 2012 and practiced psychiatry together for 10 years in Portland until his death. During his career Jonathan was dedicated to alleviating the suffering of others. He was beloved by his patients for his kindness, empathy and patience as a listener. In their rich life together, Jonathan and Lucy made many close friendships and were blessed with two daughters, Mary Reynolds, six, and Margaret Thornbury, two, who adore him. Jonathan's greatest joy was fatherhood and family life. Together, the Lloyds enjoyed the beauty of their Oregon home and spent many happy days hiking, skiing, exploring the Oregon coast and watching brilliant sunsets from their porch. Jonathan is survived by his beloved wife, Lucy; his cherished girls, Mary and Margaret; parents; sisters; aunts; uncles and his many friends he made throughout his life. Jonathan will be missed by the many people who held him dear. We will forever remember Jonathan for his kind heart, his curious mind, his adventurous spirit and his utmost love of family. May he rest now and forever in the peace of God. A memorial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday Jan. 12, 2019, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1206 Maple Lane, Louisville, KY 40223. A memorial will also be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at Ascension Episcopal Parish, 1823 S.W. Spring Street, Portland, OR 97201.
