William John 'Bill' Cameron, 75 NYPD officer and Navy veteran William John "Bill" Cameron, 75, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. Bill grew up in Staten Island, and graduated in 1962 from Tottenville High School. Bill made a career of public service, beginning with his 1962 enlistment in the U.S. Navy. Later, he joined the New York City Police Department and retired from the 120th Precinct. Bill married Catherine "Kate" Miller, in 1989, and lived in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, N.Y., until 2005, when they made Ft. Pierce their home. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Larsen; parents, Al and Mary (McCormack) Cameron, and siblings, Mary McCarthy and Jim Cameron. He is survived by his wife, Kate; sister, Theresa Schenk; four children, Pam Pearson (David), Bill Cameron Jr. (Linda), Beth Cherrick, and Tom Cameron, and four grandchildren, Jessica Pearson (Josh), Kristen Pugliese (PJ), Bill Cameron III (Katie), and Bob Cherrick. His first great-granddaughter, Elli Pugliese, is due to be born in March. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5090 Dunn Rd., Ft. Pierce, Fla. 34981. A memorial will be announced at a later date.
