Dan Huelett Liles
Dan was born on November 30, 1932 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on January 5, 2019 .Dan was 86 years of age. He was preceded in death by his father David Moody Liles and his mother Sue Hill Liles. Early in his life, the family moved to Vivian, Louisiana and Jennings, Louisiana where his father worked for a major oil company. Another transfer took the family to Ulysses, Kansas. Dan graduated from Ulysses High School in 1951. He attended Louisiana State University in 1952-1953. Dan transferred to Emporia State University and earned a BS degree in Business Administration in 1957. Following college, Dan held several jobs in the oil and gas industry. He later worked for the U. S. Department of Defense in Dallas, Texas from 1974 until he retired in 1992. After his retirement Dan moved to Tyler which became his permanent residence. Dan was a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler. He was also a member of The Shriners, Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge. His hobbies included photography and working with his computer. He enjoyed Cruising and tried to make at least one cruise trip each year. Dan will be missed by all who knew him. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Mt. Vernon City Cemetery, with Bro. Bryan Grant officiating, under direction of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home..
