Margaret Lewis Pettengill
AUGUSTA - Margaret Lewis Pettengill of Augusta, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 4, 2019. She was born on May 13, 1946, in Augusta. She was 72 years old. She was surrounded by family and friends. Margaret worked as a dispatcher for Sun Cab and for Geiger Bros. in Auburn. She also worked at Anderson Briggs Pharmacy and at Summit Communications as a switchboard operator. She was a volunteer for many years at Togus Hospital where she loved to be around her veteran friends. She had a special place in her heart for "her marine" Phil Collins. Her favorite place to be was Walmart in Augusta. Margaret enjoyed ceramics, making crafts and doll houses. She could make a silk purse out of a sow's ear !! She loved bears and the Indian culture which was evident by her home décor. She had a special love for American Girl dolls which she shared with her granddaughter Ariana. She recently lived at Chateau Cushnoc in Augusta, where she was loved by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her ex-husband of 21 years, Calvin Arthur Lewis of Wellsville, N.Y.; her son, Ricky Lewis and his belated wife Pam Lewis of Lewiston, their daughters Jennie Friree and Dawn Lewis and her grandchildren Sean and Emmerson Lewis-Friree, Matthew and Madison Long and Sara Edwards; her daughter, Lorie Lewis Hanson, husband Keith Hanson and grandchildren Ariana, Jeremiah and Joshua Hanson of Sabattus; her sister, Marcia Pykare, husband Bob Pykare and grandson Joshua Pykare of Monmouth; her brother Mark Bangs and his domestic partner Joyce Rickett of Greenfield; her brother-in-law Phil and his wife Rita Lewis of Sabattus. She was predeceased by her brother Buddy Bangs; and her parents Ernest Bangs and Ella May Bangs. A special thanks to Carl and Kim Pettengill of Augusta for their life-long friendship to Margaret. Clarence Dorr was also a life-friend from the 60's. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date which has yet to be determined.
