Girvan, John Edward 8/3/1944 - 12/30/2018 Eustis, Florida John Edward Girvan, age 74, died peacefully on December 30, 2018 surrounded by his beloved wife Sandy and family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Sandra (Brice) Girvan in Eustis, Florida, and special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is the beloved uncle of Anne Marie (Lampe) Price, Michael Girvan Lampe and Evan George Lampe, his sister's children. He is preceded in death by his father Edward Girvan, his mother Margaret Oesterle Girvan and his sister Grace Margaret Girvan (all of Ann Arbor, Michigan), as well as many beloved cousins in Kilbirnie Scotland, the birthplace of his father. John, aka "Uncle Johnny", was known for his sharp intellect, his sense of humor and his kind and generous spirit. He was a wonderful storyteller and an artist and musician. He played the bagpipes, violin and ukulele. He was active in an Orlando pipe band and played "Amazing Grace" at many weddings and funerals. And in later years, he took up oil painting and restoring old violins. He also loved boating and fishing and spent many hours fishing the lakes of Michigan, Wisconsin and Florida. John attended Eberwhite Elementary, Slauson Junior High and Ann Arbor High School (Class of 1962). He married Sandra on August 14, 1965. He was in the Navy in the mid-60's aboard the USS Saratoga, then became an Air Traffic Controller, working at Green Bay Wisconsin's Austin Straubel Airport and Chicago O'Hare Airport. Then he began a long career as a business owner of multiple Beltone Hearing Aid clinics, settling with Sandy in the Eustis area. A memorial service will be held in Kilbirnie Scotland and he will be buried with his father and mother at Kilbirnie Cemetery.
