CAROLYN S. STRAWN October 5, 1935 ˜ January 3, 2019 Carolyn S. Strawn, 83, passed away on January 3rd, 2019 at home in Vancouver, Washington. She was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Philip and Verda Madonna on October 5th, 1935. Carolyn was the older, by 55 minutes, of twin girls. She went to school, finishing high school in Keansburg, Colorado. Carolyn married W. O. ”Dub” Strawn on August 6th, 1955 in Boulder, Colorado. Dub and Carolyn, along with their two daughters, moved to Alaska in 1969 where she worked as an Administrative Assistant for an Anchorage Law firm and the US Government. Carolyn was an avid quilter and active in starting Sunbonnet Quilters Club in Sequim, Washington. Her quilts won awards including an award in a national quilting show held in Houston, Texas. She was a skilled pianist, playing both piano and organ. Carolyn is survived by daughters, Karen Gray and Carol Clemens (Craig); sister, Margaret Ziehm (Raymond); grandchildren, Laura Ransier (Jean), Christopher Wagnon, Tara Clemens, Kimberly Donald (Matt) and David Clemens (Sarah); and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, W.O Strawn; and her parents, Philip and Verda. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12th, 2019 at Bonaventure Retirement Home, 13700 Salmon Creek Ave., Vancouver, Washington, with James Kiesser officiating. Arrangements are by Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Internment for Dub and Carolyn is planned to be held in Oklahoma with Military honors at a later time. The family of Carolyn wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Community Home Health and Hospice of Vancouver, Washington. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.
