Marie was born December 24, 1925 in Dutchtown, Louisiana, where she and Hardie met and fell in love. In April, 1943, Hardie moved to New Mexico to be with his mother who moved there for health reasons. In July, 1943 Marie joined Hardie in Albuquerque where they were married on August 2, 1943. In May, 1951 the family with then 2 children moved to Baton Rouge where Hardie began his long career with Prudential Ins. Co. In 1958, a job promotion brought the family to Jackson, Mississippi where they resided until 1969. Then another job transfer brought the family to Slidell, Louisiana closer to where Marie and Hardie grew up. In the early years, Marie was a "stay-at-home Mom". She was always there with home cooked meals, fresh baked cookies, motherly advice and prayers. She was loving mother who absolutely "adored" her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Hardie enjoyed hosting and entertaining family and friends. She was always ready to cook a meal and celebrate a holiday. Marie and Hardie's love and dedication to one another has been a beautiful example of what marriage should be. Marie began her successful career in retail after their children were older. She worked for and later managed "Jeans N Things" where she and Lynne became best friends and business partners. She later managed "The Gift Shop" in Slidell eventually working 22 years in retail. Marie was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church since 1969, where she was a member of OLL Altar Society. She loved flowers and was a member of the Westchester Garden Club. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all who provided care including physicians and Canon Hospice of Slidell, La for their amazing support and care. To her home caregivers Sandy Duhon, Sharon Carter, Patty Foil and Tammy Veazey - we thank you for your love, care, devotion and friendship.
