Leopoldo Valencia Indio - -Leopoldo (Polo) G. Valencia, 87, of Indio, California passed away peacefully in West Covina, California, on December 28, 2018. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was born December 9, 1931 to Jose and Esperanza Valencia in Wilmington, California. He was preceded in death by his son Paul Valencia and earlier this year by his wife of 62 years, Dora V. Valencia. Polo is survived by his son Victor Valencia of Indio, daughters Vivian Suarez of West Covina and Gloria Duco of Orange; grandchildren Victor Jr., Christopher, and Marissa; great-grandchildren Anthony, Mathew, and Max; brother Jesse Valencia of Indio; sisters Hortencia Arambula of Thermal and Matilda Quiroz of Indio; and uncle Joseph Munoz of Coachella. He proudly worked at the Coachella Valley Water District from 1950 to 1992. Polo was one of the founding fathers of the Knights of Columbus of Our Lady of Soledad Council No. 3847 in 1954. He was a Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus and, among other things, spent many hours volunteering to raise funds for the construction of Our Lady of Soledad Church in Coachella, California. The visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, followed by a rosary service at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Soledad Church in Coachella, California. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, with burial to follow at Coachella Valley Cemetery, Coachella, California.
