Gerald T. Dempsey Sr.
Gerald T. Dempsey Sr., 93, of North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019. He was a World War II Navy veteran who completed an extensive course in timepiece repair. It set him up for his future work and helped him with repairing friends' timepieces. He retired after over 42 years as an instrument repairman at the Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He always looked forward to traveling to Georgia in the summers with his wife to buy and restore antiques with his father-in-law for his resale shop. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 43 years, Viona "Vi" Dempsey; his parents; and many brothers. He is survived by his children, Gerald Dempsey Jr., of Bellingham, Wash., Eleanor Dempsey, of Youngwood, Norma McCarthy, of Greensburg, and Philip (Colleen) Dempsey, of Blairsville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Howard; and sisters, Betty and Janet. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200. Everyone will gather at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home for a funeral service, with the Rev. Bruce Judy officiating.
