Ben was born on February 2, 1980 in Jacksonville, IL to Richard W. and Nancy Kay Brown Sapp.  He married Dr. Sara Beth Hufendick Sapp on August 9, 2003 in Tioga, IL.  She survives. Also surviving are Ben's parents, Richard and Nancy Sapp of Virginia, IL; two sons:  Toby Benjamin Sapp and Keaton Walker Sapp both of the home; and two grandmothers:  Helen Sapp and Marjorie Brown. Ben was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Wilbur "Bill" Sapp and Owen "Brownie" Brown. Ben was a graduate of Western Illinois University.  Professionally, Ben was an Environmental Specialist with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.  He had previously worked in Missouri State Parks and for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Away from work, family was the focus of Ben's life.  He loved to spend time with his boys, Toby and Keaton.  Whether coaching their sports, teaching them the finer points of hunting, or simply hiking in the woods, Ben took great pleasure in the time he shared with his sons.  An active outdoorsman, Ben loved to hunt deer and fish local ponds and lakes.  Walks in the timber or through some of his favorite Missouri State parks were times that Ben enjoyed.  A talented athlete from his football playing days in Virginia, IL, Ben continued his passion for the sport by serving as the Defensive Coordinator for the Monroe City Youth Football Team.  Ben loved coaching and enjoyed watching football games with his friends and family.  A lover of history, Ben enjoyed reading about the Civil War and watching historical documentaries on the subject. Most of all, Ben simply enjoyed being at home with his family.  Ben's family was his world and he always cherished the moments that they shared together. Pallbearers will be Rick Pfanner, David Hays, Jeff Crook, Steve Shively, Scott Shively and Doug Buie. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben's sons, Toby Benjamin Sapp and Keaton Walker Sapp. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to The Toby and Keaton Sapp Education Fund, Monroe City Youth Football, or the Army Corps of Engineers Deer Hunt for Disabled Individuals.
