Dr. Edwin L. Helfman
On December 26, 2018, Dr. Edwin L. Helfman, retired physician, passed away at the age of 84. Dr. Helfman was born on September 29, 1934 in Middletown, Ohio. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1960. He practiced medicine for 17 years at Middletown Hospital and was President of the Medical Staff in 1970. Dr. Helfman moved to Las Vegas in 1979 and practiced medicine for 15 years at Desert Springs Hospital and was Chief of Staff for 3 years, 1983-1985. He retired from medicine in 1994. After he retired he attended UNLV and learned programming to create his own software. He was known for his quick wit, his great story telling and his infectious smile. Dr. Helfman was preceded in death by his father, Hyman, and his mother, Pearl. He is survived by his former wives Barbara and Eileen, his children, Eve and Marc, his brother Ken, his nieces Theresa and Susie and nephews Daniel and Kory.
