Violet Debbie Raised her family in Scotch Plains, a knowledgeable birder active for many years with Girl Scouts and adult education courses, 98 Violet Debbie, 98, died on Dec. 4, 2018. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, N.J., on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m., at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church, Scotch Plains, N.J. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, N.J. To express condolences, visit www.fanwoodmemorial.com . Vi lived in Scotch Plains for 63 years and moved to Massachusetts in 2003. Vi and her husband, Harold (Coot) Debbie, raised their daughters in Scotch Plains, where she was always an active member of her community. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Women's Club, and involved with Washington Rock Girl Scout Council for over 35 years. She taught courses in ornithology and other nature-related topics at Learning for Life in Plainfield, at Girl Scout camps and at adult education in Scotch Plains, Westfield, and Plainfield, N.J. Vi was an avid birder and all-around lover of nature and traveled all over the world with her birding and nature clubs. She was predeceased by her husband (in 1987), and is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Wuttke of Louisiana and Maggie Debbie and her husband ,Vito LaMura, of Massachusetts; as well as two granddaughters, Heather Wuttke and Heidi Wuttke, and two great-grandchildren, Kenneth Wuttke and Ella Holmes.
