Virginia F. Johnson
Virginia F. Johnson, of Plum, daughter of the late George and Eloise Reiss, passed away in her home on the evening of Friday, Nov. 23, 2018. She was predeceased by a sister, Alice McRoberts; and niece, Kate Connally. Virginia was a member of Plum Creek Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for more than 50 years. She performed with the Pittsburgh Savoyards and sang in numerous productions at Sherwood Forest Theatre. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at McKees Rocks High School. She went on to graduate Summa cum Laude at the University of Pittsburgh, where she later earned a master's degree. She worked in educational research at American Institutes of Research Oakland and eventually retired from Applied Science Associates in Valencia as a senior research scientist. She is survived by four children, Bruce R. Johnson, of Virginia Beach, Va., Karen B. Hershberger, of Mentor, Ohio, Melissa D. Johnson, of Pittsburgh, and Mark A. Johnson of Woodbridge, Va.; her niece, Carolyn (Jean) Connally, of Hamilton, Mont.; her nephew, Malcom McRoberts, of Satellite Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
