In memory of
Michael Anthony Thomas
Michael Anthony Thomas, 57, joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 25, 2018 after a short battle with Colon cancer. Mike was a fun loving person who would help anyone in need. He loved his family, friends and of course the New Orleans Saints! Mike graduated from Donaldsonville High School in 1979 and immediately enlisted in the Army. After serving his country, he worked as a Master Pipefitter and Welder, working for some of the world's largest ship builders. Mike had specialized skills and certifications that allowed him to work on highly classified Naval ships. At the end of his career, he became a skilled tradesman and helped anyone who asked. He loved his work! Mike was called into his faith service by being an alter server at St. Joseph's and then onto St. Catherine of Sienna where he worked with the Jr Knights of St Peter Clavier and taught Sunday school. He enjoyed watching all sports, working, and just being outside keeping busy or talking with friends. He loved all kids, most especially being with his grandkids, nieces and nephews. They sought him out before anyone else when they came for a visit. He was a patient, kind, and loving spirit. Papaw and Uncle Mike will be missed! Michael was a loving and devoted father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was preceded in death by his daughter Shella Thomas-Howard, his father Marshall Thomas Jr., sister Felicia Siplin, both maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his daughters Monique and Kelana Thomas, mother Aline Thomas, sisters Rhonda (Ezzard) Brooks and Patricia (Malcolm) Green both of Donaldsonville, La. and Charlene (Robert) Portis of Lilburn, Ga., two grandchildren Jaiyah Howard and Bryson Thomas, four aunts Dorothy Daigle and Rena Mae Wilson of Donaldsonville, La., Geraldine (James) Patterson and LaBirdie Wilson of Chicago, Ill., and one uncle Roland Wilson, Sr. of Chicago, Ill. and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, godchildren, and cousins. Friends may visit Friday from 4-6 p.m. at Demby and Sons Funeral Home, 900 Magnolia Street, Donaldsonville, La. A Mass with Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 1, 2018 with visitation at 9 a.m., Rosary at 10 a.m., and Funeral at 11 a.m. St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church 421 Saint Patrick Street, Donaldsonville, La.
