In memory of
Joseph Duc Dinh Tran, 89, of Harrisburg, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at his home. He was born July 15, 1929 in Hanoi, Vietnam, the son of Chat Tran and Vy Tran. In his native country, he served as mayor of Phan Thiet Province. After moving to the United States in 1975, he worked at FCI and ITT and was also a member of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church, he will always be remembered for the way he treated others as family and for his work in community service. Mr. Tran is preceded in death by his brothers; Hanh Tran of Vietnam, and Henry Tran of Colorado. Mr. Tran is survived by his wife, of 68 years; Hoa Tran, and his daughter; Mai-Loan Tran, and husband Kinh Dien Nguyen, of Harrisburg. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Dr. Augustine Nguyen, and wife Kellie Nguyen of Philadelphia, Dr. Theresa Nguyen, and husband Dr. Chirag Patel, of Chicago IL, Paul Nguyen of Chicago IL, eight great grandchildren, and a sister Toan Tran of Virginia, and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Tran at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg PA, with Reverend Joseph Quang Van Tran, as celebrant. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 4855 Londonderry Rd, Harrisburg at 12:30 PM. A viewing for Mr. Tran will be held at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, on Friday December 7, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary Service being conducted at 6:00 PM. All are respectfully invited and welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to his church, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg PA 17110.
