Dr. Robert Smith
Dr. Robert J. Smith EASTON Dr. Robert J. Smith, 87, of Easton PA, passed away on Nov. 23, 2018, at Auguste Viktoria Hospital in Berlin, Germany, surrounded by his family. Born in Wilson on Nov. 20, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles Smith and Dorothy (Snyder) Smith. Robert graduated from Wilson High School in 1949 and got his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Miami. He lived and taught in Berlin, Germany for 13 years, where he met his later wife, Christa Hopf. After returning to the United States, he worked for several years at Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton, NJ. He was a resident of Raubsville, PA, and Berlin, Germany, and wandered frequently between the two continents. He loved jazz, reading and writing and was the author of a book on psychopathy. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Julius Hopf. He shared his love for music with his son, who became a jazz trombonist. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family. Funeral services will be held in Berlin, Germany, where he will be interred.
