Elpiniki "Niki" Harissis
Elpiniki "Niki" Harissis Rochester - Died peacefully on December 3, 2018 at age 90. Born July 20, 1928, in Florina, Greece to Christos and Vasiliki Stathopoulos. She was married for 42 years to the late John Harissis, and moved to Rochester in 1954. She is survived by her four children, Thomas (Linda), Peter (Elaine Lanni), Mary (Tony) Scaringe (Syracuse, NY), and Angie (Ted) Augustinos (Hartford, CT); sister, Despina (Vangelis) Gitsis (Florina, Greece), and sisters-in law, Anastasia Stathe, Dimitra Stathopoulos and Vivian Stathe; best friend since childhood, Flora Giagios; close friends, Bev and Charlie Leichliter; and nieces and nephews. Niki especially doted on her eight grandchildren, Mark, Alan and Lindsay Harissis; Peter John, Jordan and Christopher Augustinos; and Matthew and Alexandra Scaringe. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thoma, Van, Dean and Tom. Niki was a faithful parishioner of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, and a member of the Ladies' Philoptohos and the Ayia Paraskevi societies. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who had a zest for life. Niki loved to laugh and to express her deep affection by cooking and baking for her family and friends. We are grateful for the wonderful care mom received over these past years at Brookdale Brighton, Seabury Memory Care and the Episcopal Church Home. Friends may call Sunday, December 9 from 2-6 PM with Trisagion at 6 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 10, 10 AM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 962 East Ave. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park. Fr. Angelo Maggos presiding.
