Virginia Elizabeth Hodgkin Miller 1924 - 2018 GORHAM - Virginia Elizabeth Hodgkin Miller, 94, of Gorham, passed away on Dec. 2, 2018, with her family by her side, after a short period of declining health. 'Ginny,' as she was known by family and friends, was born in Gorham, on July 8, 1924, to Everett and Eva Hodkin, and attended Gorham and Windham schools, graduating from Windham High School in 1942. In 1949, she married Chester R. Miller, in Portland, where she lived and raised her three children. Over her working life, 'Ginny' worked for the New England Telephone Co., the Burnham and Morrill Baked Beans Co. and the S&H Green Stamp Redemption Store in Portland.Ginny was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to crochet, crocheting many treasured sweaters and afghans for family and friends, dancing with her husband, Chet at the local Eagles Club, family get togethers at the Hodgkin family camp on Pequawket Lake, road trips and reading audible suspense novels. Ginny loved Lays Classic potato chips (family size, of course) and Kristene's pumpkin pie, but most of all, Ginny loved to talk, to just about anyone who would listen.Ginny was predeceased by her parents, Everett and Eva Hodgkin; brother, Everett Hodgkin and his wife, Hazel; her husband, Chester R. Chuck Miller and his wife, Kristene, a daughter, Doreen G. Hill and her husband, Kenneth and daughter-in-law, Brenda Long; grandchildren, Keith Haynes, Clarissa Haynes, Damon and Bonnie Miller, Amber and Andy Borst, Marlon and Trenae Hill and Kenneka Hill; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. At Ginny's request, quite adamantly, that there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Mercy Hospital and the Northern Light Homecare and Hospice, to Lynn Cail, her in-home personal care assistant and to Pricilla Rowe of the Southern Maine Agency On Aging, for their loving care of Ginny over the years and during her most recent decline in health. In addition, the family would also like to give a very special heartfelt thank you to both daughter-in-law Brenda Long and K.C. Carpenter for always being there to help with Ginny.
