In memory of
Anne Browne
Anne Day Browne, 81, of Pittsburgh, died Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 2018. Anne passed away peacefully at Longwood at Oakmont. She was the beloved wife of N. Bruce Browne, the love of her life, dearest mother of Deborah B. Walrath (James), and devoted grandmother of Nick, Liza and Kate Walrath. Anne was born in Pittsburgh to Kenneth and Ruth Day. She graduated from The Shipley School and attended Vassar College. Anne married Bruce in 1963 and they were inseparable until Bruce's death on Memorial Day, 2016. She loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. Anne was a long-time parishioner of Calvary Episcopal Church, a member of Fox Chapel Golf Club and volunteered in many civic organizations over the years. She loved to travel the world with her husband, particularly enjoying her many trips to Italy and Africa. Anne always said that Africa was the most spiritual place to which she had ever travelled. Family vacations in Madison, Conn., and to our national parks, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events were her fondest memories. Anne was kind, graceful, encouraging and welcoming to all. She was as beautiful inside as she outside. She taught us all how to love deeply. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, in Calvary Episcopal Church, 315 Shady Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15206. Anne's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the many caregivers at Longwood at Oakmont and companions from Caring from the Heart (especially Franklin Salvay), who took such good and loving care of Anne during the last years of her life. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Animal Friends or The Eye and Ear Foundation of Pittsburgh. Arrangements are by JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS INC., www.freyvogelfuneralhome.com .
