Dan G. Sterner
Dan G. Sterner Naples, FL Dan G. Sterner passed away on November 1, 2018 in Naples, Florida at the age of 85. He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on August 19, 1933 to Earl Sterner and Maude Chamberlain. After graduating from Southside High, Dan received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served four years as an officer in the US Navy in Morocco and at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia where he was a cryptographer. Following the Navy, Dan attended the School of Law at Indiana University. He practiced law for 40 years in Indianapolis before retiring from the Taft law firm. Dan appreciated "the finer things in life." He enjoyed cooking, good food, travel, opera and other classical music. As a pianist, he could be persuaded to play for friends on occasion. He was a voracious reader, especially of history, philosophy and books he called trash. Dan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Price Sterner and his daughters Molly Sterner of San Diego and Amy Sterner of Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his sister Jacqueline Sterner Douglas of Fayetteville, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dan to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
