Shasta Lee Stapleton
Shasta Lee Stapleton Born: February 15, 1993 Died: October 16, 2018 Shasta Lee Stapleton, age 25, of Johnsburg, died Tuesday evening, October 16, 2018. She was born to James and Patty (Zell) Stapleton on February 15, 1993 in Barrington, IL. Shasta grew up in Johnsburg, attending school from the primary grades until graduating from Johnsburg High School with the class of 2011. Although Shasta was fond of her birth name, her nickname, "Boo Boo", was the name her family always used with her; and later the only name her friends would know. From a young age, Boo Boo had a long-time fascination with the hula hoop, eventually turning her passion into a business. In addition to her creative and artistic abilities, she possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and grew her business selling highly customized hula hoops, complete with lighting. She carefully planned and experimented with production techniques until she perfected her product. In addition to the production, she also invested her energies into marketing her product. From You Tube videos on (everything) hooping to developing her own website for her custom hoops, she dedicated much time and energy to the hobby she loved. With a wonderful command of the English language, she developed the marketing materials to sell her unique product. A favorite pastime was attending concerts and festivals, where she would eventually also sell her hula hoops. She also worked from home in customer service for a large hula hoop manufacturer. Shasta enjoyed caring for young children, first beginning with babysitting jobs in school, then transitioning to working as a nanny. At the time of her death, she was employed as a nanny by a family in the Rockford area. She especially enjoyed teaching young children, and loved being "Aunty Boo Boo" to her niece and nephews. Shasta was a fan of binge-watching old episodes of Friends, and took great pride in showing her vast knowledge of Friends trivia. She was also very fond of spending time with her beloved dogs, her pitbulls, Bear and Suzy. Shasta was an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan, and also enjoyed fishing. She will be dearly missed by her loving family, who include her parents, James and Patty Stapleton, of Johnsburg; two sisters, Vanessa Stapleton and Theresa (Isaac) Jones; her nephew, Isaac Jr., and twins, nephew Chevy Jones and niece, Nova Jones; her grandfather, Perry Roe; and many aunts and uncles; several cousins; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother and paternal grandparents. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. Services and interment will be private for her family. For information, please call the funeral home at 815-385-2400, or visit www.justenfh.com , where friends may leave online condolence messages for her family.
