Leonard B. Bourgeois, age 91, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 in a local hospital. He was born November 28, 1926. Leonard was born in Lawtell, Louisiana and lived in Lake Charles most of his life. He proudly served in both the US Navy and US Army, serving in World War II and the Korean War. While in the Navy, he served on the USS Edisto. After his retirement from the Army, he worked as a painter. Those left behind to cherish his memories are a sister, Ruby Cristler of Lawtell; four brothers, Paul Janies (Novella) of Sugarland, TX, Albert Bourgeois (Pat) of Texas City, TX, Melvin Bourgeois (Kimberlee) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Martin Bourgeois, Jr. of Port Barre, LA; nieces, Charlene Conner, Carolyn Risher, Cynthia Taylor all of Lake Charles; nephews, Michael Risher, Sr. (Marina) of Carlyss, Leonard Manuel (Sandy), William Manuel of Lake Charles, Barry Manuel of Bogalusa, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Bourgeois, Sr. and Frances Catherine Janies, sisters, Omalee Manuel, Rosemond Risher, Celina Fontenot, brothers, Jessie Bourgeois, Donald Janies, J.B. Bourgeois, and Delvis Bourgeois. His funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Hixson Funeral Chapel in Lake Charles with a rosary at 6 p.m. Blessing by Reverend Luke Krzanowski, M.S. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and will resume at 8 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
