James F. "Jimmy" Schofill 06/16/1943 - 10/05/2018 Byron, GA- James F. "Jimmy" Schofill, 75, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, October 5, 2018. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, October 8, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 209 South Miller Street in Fort Valley, with Rev. Ed McQueen officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Born in Fort Valley to the late Sidney Schofill and Frances Wilson Schofill, Mr. Schofill graduated from Fort Valley High School, then attended Georgia Southwestern College for two years, and graduated from Georgia Southern. He worked many years for Wilson Galleries and retired from Bonnie C. Dowling Interiors. He was very creative, always inventing something useful. His favorite pastimes included watching old westerns, and he loved to watch sports, especially the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Braves. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Loretta Pender Schofill; sister, Nancy Sanders (Gene) of Southwest Ranches, Florida; brother in law, Leonard Pender(Paula) of Fort Valley; sister in law, Paula Wood of Fort Valley; cousins, Emory Wilson of Perry and Tot Martin of Fort Valley; his faithful companion "Bogie"; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
