Ernest W. Martin Jr. Avondale - It is with deep sympathy that the family of Ernest (Ernie) W. Martin Jr., age 88, of Avondale, AZ, announce his death on August 2nd, 2018, at his home after struggling with the conditions brought on by advanced Alzheimer's Disease. Ernie was born on January 8th, 1930, to Ernesto W. and Rose Martinez, in New York, N.Y.. He attended Hofstra College and the Dale Carnegie School both in NY. After several years of owning and enjoying a independent insurance agency he moved to Arizona. That was in 1977. In AZ he was a territorial manager at Inter-tel Business Information Systems, a tele communications company. He was proud to have served three years in the U.S. Air Force as a radar operator during the Korean Conflict. He was pre-deceased by both parents and a sister, Gloria. He is survived by two sisters, Julia and Rita of New York; his wife Paula Given-Martin of Avondale, his ex-wife, Ann Martin, of Phoenix; two daughters Regina (Martin-Weissbach) Mason of Phoenix and Lisa [Charles] Grigsby of Goodyear; two step children Olivia (Given)[Emmanuel] Castello of Ambler, PA, and Glenn [Jennifer] Given of New Hampshire; five grandchildren Bethany [Nick] Thiel of Phoenix, Jesse Weissbach of Phoenix, Brandon, Justin and Mariah Grigsby of Goodyear; four step grandchildren Xavier and Freya Given of New Hampshire, Simon and Luci Castello of PA, and three great grandchildren Carlton, Annalise and Christa Thiel of Phoenix; he will also be missed by his many other relatives, good friends and ex-coworkers. A Celebration to Honor Ernie will be held at a future date to be announced by his daughters. If you wish to remember Ernie through a donation one can be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
