Robert J. "Joe" Bade
Robert J. "Joe" Bade, 87, Beaufort, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018. Joe, son of the late Arthur J.H. Bade Sr. and wife Freda, nee Zircher, was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Creve Coeur. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from March 31, 1952, to March 31, 1954. He was united in marriage to Irene Luechtefeld Aug. 4, 1956, in New Haven, and the couple made their home in Beaufort. Joe was employed as a bricklayer until his retirement in 1983. Joe was an active member of St. John United Church of Christ Casco and served on the cemetery committee for 10 years. Joe was a faith-filled family man who enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's company immensely. He also enjoyed farming and tractors. Joe is survived by one daughter, Ellen Fogarty and husband Joseph, St. Louis; three sons, Russell Bade and wife Angie, Richard Bade, all of Beaufort, and Glen Bade and Kris, Gerald; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Eileen Borgmann, Union; one brother, Albert Bade and wife Marilyn, New Haven; one sister-in-law, Doris Bade, Leslie; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; his parents; and his siblings, Bernice and Earl Viers, Elizabeth and Carl Stolte, Arthur Bade Jr., and Catherine and Charles Parmentier. A funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ Casco, Beaufort, with the Rev. Charles Ackerson and the Rev. Jim Foster officiating. Burial followed in Holy Family-Port Hudson Church Cemetery, New Haven, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Holy Family Cemetery Fund or St. John U.C.C. Casco Cemetery Fund. The Bade family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
