Hazel M. Hamilton, 97 LANCASTER - It is with great sadness that the family of Hazel M. (Bailey) Hamilton announces her passing after she spent her last few days at Keystone Center in Leominster, Massachusetts. She died peacefully with her son at her side the morning of September 18, 2018 at the age of 97. She was the youngest daughter of Everett and Sara (McCaig) Bailey. She is survived by her three sons, Lawrence James, Bradley David and Richard Eliot Hamilton. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Eliot William Hamilton (1989) and her daughter Holly Diane Carmichael (2004). She was married for 46 years. She leaves her grandchildren Jason, Heath, Erin, Darren, Jessica, Janice, Jaime, and Joshua. She also had 10 great-grandchildren. She was born in Clinton and moved to Lancaster when she was 15. She graduated from Lancaster High School and Becker Junior College. She worked for David Philbin, Esq. as a Legal Secretary for 20 years and earlier at State Mutual. She lived at a time when skinny girls were prescribed beer by doctors to help fatten them up. As a young girl she saw Charles Lindbergh fly over on his historic flight to cross the ocean to France. As a teen she managed to go to a dance with a broken ankle much to the chagrin of her parents. Known for driving slowly, she proudly displayed her only speeding ticket she had ever received on her living room wall. As an adult she enjoyed a Europe trip and multiple vacations to Bermuda with her daughter and later friend Rachel Driscoll. She spent many summers at the beach house in Salisbury and her greatest joy was the time spent with her family. She loved butterflies, roses, her pets, and white chocolate. She liked watching Jeopardy, golf, and classic movies. Her favorite of which was, "An Affair to Remember". She loved to read. Her favorite authors were Catherine Coulter and Nora Roberts. She was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Lancaster and had many friends. She wanted just a graveside service which will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. in the North Village Cemetery in Lancaster. Family and friends are invited to attend, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers to be displayed at the grave site, contributions may be made to the Evangelical Congregational Church of Lancaster, P. O. Box 413, Lancaster, MA 01523. McNally & Watson Funeral Home at 304 Church Street in Clinton is directing arrangements. To share a memory of Hazel or offer condolences to her family, please visit www.mcnallywatson.com
