Vincent R. Graves
Vincent R. Graves, 65, of Hartford, beloved husband of Freddie (Collins) Graves, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD to the late Phillip Neal and Beatrice Graves, he served his country proudly with the US Army during the Vietnam War and has been a Hartford resident for over 40 years. Vincent was a firefighter with the Hartford Fire Dept for 21 years and was a member of the Phoenix Society, the Hartford Retired Firefighters Association, American Legion Post 162 and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. Vincent was a member of First Cathedral in Bloomfield and was an avid fisherman. Besides his wife Freddie, he is survived by his sons, Vincent Graves Jr, Arkell Graves and his wife Dana, Terrence Collins and Frederick Graves; his daughters, Tiffany Merritt, Felicia Graves and Alicia Graves; his sisters, Shanta White and her husband Larry and Sheree Neal; his bonus mother Shirley Neal; a special aunt, Barbara Griffin; a devout friend, Billy Smith and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, September 27 at The First Cathedral, 1151 Blue Hills Ave Bloomfield, followed by burial with military honors in CT State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
