Honore John "Pookie" Landry Jr.
Honore John Landry Jr. "Pookie," age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Honore was born July 11, 1942 in Donaldsonville, Louisiana where he was a gifted sign painter. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard and a member of the American Legion Post 98. Family and friends will remember Honore for his sense of humor, big heart, love for animals, great taste in music and consistent positive attitude no matter how the dice rolled for him. Honore is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Connie Rae Landry; his daughter, Mickie Landry Howell; his sister, Suzanne Gomez (Gary), and brother, Lamar Landry (Audrey); and his granddaughter, Coti Howell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Falcon Landry, and his father, Norah J. Landry. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, where he was a lifelong member. The memorial mass will follow at 1:30 p.m. Following the service, a gathering will be held at the church hall to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Acadiana Animal Aid (142 Le Medicin Rd, Carencro, LA 70520). Scott Falcon and Brent Landry, his godson, will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Our Lady of the Lake, as well as Honore's other doctors, for their great care and excellent compassion.
