In memory of
Carol May Mayuq Ahgook
Carol May Mayuq Ahgook, 35, passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, on Sept. 15, 2018, at Providence Hospital. She went peacefully with the Lord, surrounded by family members who could be by her side. They sang gospel songs and read her bible verses she saved on her phone. Carol was born on Dec. 2, 1982, in Fairbanks, Alaska. She lived in Anaktuvuk Pass, where she worked as a maintenance/custodian for the Nunamiut School for the North Slope Borough School District. Carol loved to fish, hunt, bead and, most of all, take care of her family and see the happiness she brought to our eyes. Carol was so giving; she had the most loving heart and always put her family and close friends before herself. She always took care of us in every which way: cooking, cleaning, carpentry projects and always providing what she could for the wellbeing of her family. She lived her life pleasing others, no matter what. We were not surprised to learn she was an organ donor as her sudden passing came about, always so giving and gave what she could when her time on earth was put to an end. Carol was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Dora Hugo, Ben and Elizabeth Ahgook and Clyde and Ellen Hugo; and her brother-in-law, Eric Gerke. She is survived by her parents, Jacob and Alice Ahgook; sisters, Amanda Gerke, Abigail Ahgook, Nita Ahgook, Kayla Hopson, Sarah Hopson and Dorothy Hopson-Ahgook; brothers, Raymond Ahgook, Tunnana Ahgook and Thomas Hopson Sr.; nephews, Jacob Patrick Ahgook, David Mekiana, Thomas Hopson Jr., Colin Hopson, Jordan Hopson and Grayson Hopson; and her nieces, Zoey Ahgook and Calleigh Hopson. Services for Carol will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Nunamiut School in Anaktuvuk Pass, Alaska. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. and services at 2 p.m. Carol will be buried at Anaktuvuk Pass Cemetery.
