William R. Purdy
William R. Purdy, of Penn Hills, passed away at home Monday, Sept. 10, 2018. He was surrounded by Jean, his loving wife of 70 years; two daughters, Denise (known as Goldie to her friends) and Barb; one granddaughter, Gretchen (Ron); a great-granddaughter, Amber (Tommy); and three great-great-grandchildren, Leilani, Blake and Piper. Bill is also survived by three special friends, Martha Dizak, Buck Gray and his granddog Johnny. Mr. Purdy was preceded in death by the world's best sons-in-law, Jay and Kim. The best times of his life were spent RVing with Jean, playing and listening to music and spending time with his beloved family. He also enjoyed reading about American history, particularly aviation and World War II. Friends were received Thursday, at SOXMAN FUNERAL HOME LTD./ROTH CHAPEL, 7450 Saltsburg Road at Universal Road, Penn Hills, PA 15235, with a service officiated by the Rev. Jim Spitzel. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Humane Animal Rescue Wildlife Center, 6000 Verona Road, Verona, PA 15147. Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are watching over us and are at peace.
