ROBERT THOMAS BUTLER
BUTLER ROBERT THOMAS 93, passed away on Sept. 6, 2018, at Normandy Farms Estates in Blue Bell PA. Previously, he lived for many years in St. David's PA and in Avalon NJ. A WWII veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, Bob graduated from Germantown Academy, and from Temple University. In 1953, he joined NW Ayer and Son, an advertising agency then headquartered in Philadelphia. He was later named Vice President. In 1974, he became president of the ad agency Gray & Rodgers in Philadelphia. He retired in 1990. Bob was an active parishioner at St. Martin's (Episcopal) Church in Radnor PA. He was a member of the Racquet Club, Philadelphia, St. David's Golf Club, St. Davids PA, Merion Cricket Club, Haverford PA, and the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor, Stone Harbor NJ. He is survived by his wife, Eleanore, with whom be shared 68 years of marriage; a son, Mark (Denise), and 2 daughters, Kathryn (Hilton) and Elizabeth (John); 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 A.M., Oct. 6, 2018, at St. Thomas' (Episcopal) Church Whitemarsh, Ft. Washington PA. Interment will be private. Donations in his name may be made to Salvation Army, 4050 Conshocken Ave., Phila. PA 19131.
