David L. Pollard
Stonington - David L. Pollard, 68, of Stonington, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, after a brief illness. Born in New London, he was the son to the late Arthur C. Pollard Sr. and Barbara (Kilpatrick) Pollard. He lived in Stonington for the past 25 years. Prior to living in Stonington, Dave resided in Kentucky and New Jersey for many years. He is survived by his five siblings, Barbara Anderson and her husband, Christopher, of Florida, Arthur C. Pollard Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Norwich, Cheryl Riffle of Groton, Ralph Pollard of North Stonington, and Edward Pollard and his wife, Ronna, of Stonington, and numerous nieces and nephews. David was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran awarded several military combat awards for his outstanding service and achievements during his seven year career. During his tour in Vietnam, Dave received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Army Commendation Metal for valor. A graveside service will be held at 11 am. Friday, Sept.14, at the Smith Lake Cemetery in Groton, followed by military honors. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice.
