In memory of
Ella Brown-Walker
Ella Louise Brown-Walker of Robesonia, Pa., daughter of the late Willie E. Brown and Sarah Christopher, was born October 10, 1938, in a small farmhouse in Harford County, Md. She left her earthly life and family on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at 3:55 p.m. and transitioned to her heavenly home. Ella accepted Christ at a young age and has been faithful following Christ ever since. She received her early education in a one room schoolhouse in Asbury, Md. From there, she advanced and completed her studies at Central Consolidated High School, which is known today as Hickory Elementary School. Ella, affectionately known as "Sista," by her family and friends, left for college where she pursued a career at Cortez Peters Business School in Philadelphia, Pa. Soon after arriving in Philadelphia, Ella started dating a very handsome Reading Railroad flagman by the name of Robert Lee Easterling who swept her off her feet. He would later ask for her hand in marriage. She accepted his proposal and out of that union came three wonderful children: the late Ron Lee Easterling, Ann Marie Easterling-Copeland and Robert Lee-Frazel Easterling. They were happily married for six years. It was a magical union between the two until August of 1963 when the Lord suddenly called Robert Lee home to Glory. As the years passed on, Ella's heart was mending, and she was falling in love again. This time with Jethro John Walker, a Union Construction worker, also a native of Philadelphia. They were blessed with four amazing children: Jacqueline Louise Pettis, Jeffery Jomo Walker, Darin Olin Walker and Derek Olen Walker. Ella was very loving and caring. She showed a strong passion for the nursing, which made her a perfect fit for the health care industry where she worked in the nursing field for over 25 years. Ella's determination and strength empowered her to leave Philadelphia and come back to her father's home in Churchville, due to relationship challenges. By the grace of God, Ella was able to purchase another home in Street, Md., where she and the children resided peacefully together for over 20 years. With God's wisdom and guidance, she was able to successfully raise seven children as a single mother. Ella's oldest child Ron was born with Autism and other challenging health issues. Again, her love and determination allowed her to persevere while raising all seven children, victoriously! In October of 2004, Ron's health issues grew progressively worse, so Ella moved to Myerstown, Pa., to be closer to her daughter and family. As time passed on, Ella and Ron were able to reside with Jacqueline and Billy in Robesonia, Pa. In March of 2018, Ella was diagnosed with kidney cancer. By the grace of God, and her strength and determination, she successfully battled cancer and won her battle in April 2018. Sadly, Ella suffered a massive stroke in September 2018. Shortly thereafter, she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ella is survived by Ann Marie Easterling-Copeland and Charles Copeland, Robert Lee Easterling and Kike Sorita (fiancée), Jacqueline and Billy Pettis, Jeffery Jomo Walker, Darin and Adrienne Walker, Derek Olen Walker; siblings: James E. Brown, Street, Md.; Albert and Jackie Brown, Jarrettsville, Md.; Willie A. Brown, Jacksonville, Fla.; George F. Brown, Edgewood, Md.; William "Tiny" and Charmetta Brown, Aberdeen, Md.; Thomas Leon and Unok Brown, San Antonio, Texas; Larry E. Brown, Havre de Grace, Md.; Kevin and Tanisha Brown, Bel Air, Md. Ella's also survived by her sisters: Gladys and Walter V. Williams, Churchville, Md.; Freda Beatrice and Jerome Walker, Aberdeen, Md.; and Rosa D. Brown, Aberdeen, Md.; sister/cousin, Shirley and Walter Smothers (predeceased); sister, Renee' Brown; as well as Freddie Brown and Willis Brown. Finally, Ella is survived by her 26 lovely grandchildren and 2 fabulous great-grandchildren, and a host of fantastic aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
