In memory of
Charlotte Carroll
Our communities sadly lost an eclectic lady on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, when Charlotte Carroll succumbed to a long fought illness. Charlotte was preceded in death by her son, Ty; and her parents, DeWitt Bellinger Casler Jr. and Charlotte Ryland Casler. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Taylor Carroll of Sneads Ferry, NC.; their son, Brooks, wife Brielle and the highlight of her life, granddaughter, Dixie, of Charleston, S.C. She is also survived by sister, Carolyn Luxton and husband, Scott and their children, Lindsey, Claire and Allie, of Richmond VA. Her brother, Ted Casler and his children, Caroline, Garrett and Stuart of Abingdon, VA. Charlotte was raised in Richmond, Va. In her younger years, Charlotte was an accomplished equestrian and flourished during her years spent at Camp Merrie-Woode, as both a camper and counselor. Charlotte was a woman of many talents. She began her career as a banker in Atlanta and Greensboro. Under Hugh Caldwell's leadership, Camp Merrie – Woode shifted to a private foundation. Charlotte was asked to come on board as the bookkeeper and served in this capacity for a few years. Her love and dedication to the area then led her to a career in Real Estate. Charlotte was a member of The National Society of Colonial Dames of America. Her contributions to the lives of many include rescuing feral cats and dogs, to the extent of domesticating a few and giving them a lifelong home. After moving from Cashiers to Sneads Ferry, NC in 2010, she dedicated time to Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary and Operation Top Cat (spaying and neutering). Ty and Brooks' friends always knew they had a home away from home with Charlotte. A guest house full of music, snacks, and friends was always welcoming and gratifying. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers, N.C. This date is significant to Charlotte and her family, as it would have been Ty's 46th birthday. Condolences may be left at JDNews.com.
