In memory of
Dolores Jean Griffin
Dolores Jean Griffin 01/17/1949 - 09/06/2018 Dolores Jean Griffin left us for heaven on September 6, 2018. The daughter of M. L. and Betty Jean Sutton, "Dee" was born in Miami, Florida on January 17, 1949. A longtime resident of Volusia County, Dee was an avid walker who appreciated the sunshine and anywhere there was water. She loved Broadway musicals and shopping and was a world traveler. She had a passion for fine foods and a skill for cooking them as she sought to learn to replicate the flavors and techniques of different regions. Some of her occupations included Cypress Gardens show skiing, nursing, and modeling. She would say that her biggest life's work, though, was in her role as a homemaker and mother. She fostered infants for a time until she decided to adopt two as her own- Denisha (Phillip) Stearns of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Martin Carl Portnoy of West Palm Beach, Florida. Dee also leaves behind four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Per her request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Spruce Creek Baptist Church (Port Orange), Port Orange Nazarene Church, or the Children's Home Society. Arrangements by: Neptune Society-Jacksonville (904) 733-4510.
